Re-Inventing the Wheel
One of my favorite things to do here at RevolverGuy is to introduce the readers to the talented artisans who make the products that we know and love. I often find that their personal stories are as interesting as the popular wares which bear their marque!
A few weeks back, I detailed some fixes and modifications I’d been working on for my set of Kimber K6S revolvers. One of these was the addition of a set of Hogue rubber Bantam grips for my three-inch stainless model.
I got my hands on the brand-new Kimber K6s revolver at the 2016 SHOT Show, and was immediately impressed with the package. They managed to combine a good trigger, great sights, and a six-round cylinder in a package that was hardly larger than a five-shot J-Frame—what was not to like?
I was having a “campfire conversation” with RevolverGuy Dean Caputo, recently, about the handling characteristics of various handguns. At one point, we were busy comparing the pointing characteristics of some popular snub revolvers, and we discovered that we shared a mutual appreciation for the “pointability” of the J-Frame revolver.
If you’re looking for an autopistol mechanic these days, the world’s your oyster, but it’s a little more difficult to find a quality gunsmith to work on your revolver or build the custom one of your dreams.
Jeff Quinn was unmistakable with his long, braided, gray beard.
