Review: Taurus 942 .22 LR Revolver
I don’t think I’ve made it any secret, but I am no fan of the .22 Long Rifle. It’s just generally not my cup of tea. Nothing against you if it’s yours, but it has never really blown my skirt up. Though the Ruger Wrangler has found a place in my collection, I remain sort of generally unimpressed with the .22 Long Rifle. Continue reading “Review: Taurus 942 .22 LR Revolver”
The Ruger Wrangler: Justin’s First .22!
Do you guys like IPAs? As a heavily tattooed, bearded, self-proclaimed beer guy I should probably appreciate the bright, piney hoppiness of a good IPA. But I don’t. Can’t. I much prefer the sweeter, rounder, malty notes of a lager, dunkel, or porter. I’ll even take a crisp pilsner (excluding classic, American “yellow beer” with a variation of the word “light” in the name, of course) over an IPA. When the IBUs climb above fifty, I’m tapping out. Custom Single-Six: Tyler Gun Works’ RSSE
I first encountered Tyler Gun Works a few years ago while searching for a Christmas gift for a close friend, one of the proverbial guys who is very difficult to buy for. Jeff Quinn of Gunblast.com wrote about a high quality tomahawk that piqued my interest. Its blade was case hardened and its handle was made of hickory. I went to the manufacturer’s website and found several models to choose from and they were all made of stainless steel. Continue reading “Custom Single-Six: Tyler Gun Works’ RSSE”
PSA: Shooting .22 Long Rifle in .22 Magnum Cylinders
A recent article in a popular gun magazine repeated a common—but dangerous—misunderstanding, and reminded me that you can’t always believe what you read. Continue reading “PSA: Shooting .22 Long Rifle in .22 Magnum Cylinders”
The High Standard Sentinel R-103
As RevolverGuys, we often focus on the good stuff. S&W. Colt. Ruger. We may frown upon other “lesser” makes of wheelguns (and I won’t mention them by name). But there is a make and model of revolver that is often overlooked because it wasn’t made by the big three. Continue reading “The High Standard Sentinel R-103”
A 2018 RevolverGuy Christmas Story
The crunching sound seemed to echo for a second when his boots came to a stop at the edge of the dry wash. He took in a deep breath of the cold desert air, and it burned his dry nose a bit, reminding him to reach for his canteen and take a swig. Continue reading “A 2018 RevolverGuy Christmas Story”
The Making of a RevolverGuy: My First Revolver
My first gun, not surprisingly, was a .22 rifle. That seems to be where most of us start out, because it’s a lot easier to teach a youngster how to shoot a rifle than it is a handgun. I always had a lot of fun with that rifle, but the time came when I wanted to shoot a handgun, instead. I didn’t know it quite yet, but I was ready to take my first steps as a RevolverGuy.
