In Praise of the Home Defense Revolver
I have been a little down on the concealed carry revolver lately. There are a lot of compromises to be made when selecting a revolver for everyday carry and I won’t rehash them here. There is one role in which the revolver shines, however. The home defense revolver suffers from very few of the problems that plague the everyday carry revolver. New for 2018: SHOT Show Revolvers
The 40th annual Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Trade (SHOT) Show was held at the Sands Expo Center inside the Venetian resort in Las Vegas this past January 2018. The massive event was attended by over 60,000 industry professionals and two of your RevolverGuy cohorts. Mike Wood certainly looked professional, especially at the Kimber shooting range stall as he took notes from Kimber’s engineers. This was my seventh SHOT Show, so at least I was able to keep the huge grin off my face…most of the time. Let’s make it at least 60,002 professionals. Black Rifle Coffee Company “AK47”
I am both a coffee drinker and SOF veteran, so my interest is always piqued when I run across a company that has an interest in both. The Making of a RevolverGuy: My First Revolver
My first gun, not surprisingly, was a .22 rifle. That seems to be where most of us start out, because it’s a lot easier to teach a youngster how to shoot a rifle than it is a handgun. I always had a lot of fun with that rifle, but the time came when I wanted to shoot a handgun, instead. I didn’t know it quite yet, but I was ready to take my first steps as a RevolverGuy. ITRH Podcast Interview on 1911s
Ok, ok – they aren’t revolvers but 1911s are still pretty cool. A couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to meet Aaron from the In the Rabbit Hole Urban Survival Podcast. I was in his neck of the woods so we met up and the talk turned to firearms. As it happens, Aaron has never owned a 1911, and I have owned a bunch and carried them in combat, so…we decided to record an episode.
