A straight product review is much easier to write, but not nearly as interesting or educational, I think. Jeffrey Custom Leather Moon Pocket
The 9mm Ruger LCR made quite a favorable impression on me when I reviewed it here in these pages more than two years ago. It had a very good trigger, the sights were well-regulated, and it packed a powerful punch. When it was loaded with ammo that featured lighter projectiles and/or a good crimp, it was extremely reliable, and its light weight and snag-free design made it easy to carry and draw from concealment.

DIY J-Frame JetLoader Pouch
It’s tricky to find adequate gear for a round gun in a flat gun world. With a click of a mouse, you have access to tons of holsters, aftermarket magazines and magazine pouches for all sorts of auto pistols, but finding quality revolver gear doesn’t come easy. Demand dictates supply, and since there are fewer people carrying revolvers, the lack of industry support for the revolver isn’t surprising. That doesn’t make it any less frustrating. I recently had the opportunity to check out a pretty cool concept from Galco. The basic idea is one that I have had in mind for a while – a holster with an attached speedloader pouch along the topstrap. Safariland Split-Six & DeSantis Second Six Pouches
Recently I had occasion to visit Prescott, AZ. I was invited out to tour the Ruger factory Mike Wood was invited out to the Ruger factory and he was gracious enough to ask me to tag along. During the rest of our time there we did some shooting and did the “mall crawl” through many of the local gun stores. A lot of them had bins of used grips, pouches, nylon holsters, and miscellaneous magazines. There aren’t many guys that enjoy rooting around through stuff like that, but I do, and apparently Mike does, as well. The Safariland Comp II Speedloader
When I jumped headfirst in the world of wheel-fed guns, I knew I had to get good at reloads, and I knew that required a speedloader. I already owned a couple of HKSs and was thoroughly unimpressed with the “speed” claim in the name, and the multiple motions required to work them. The first speedloader I really learned to appreciate was the Safariland Comp II. This loader has also earned a ton respect from revolver guys who are far more accomplished than I.
